This activity involves lots of experimentation with filters.

Select Filter > Filter Gallery ...

Spend some time investigating what the effects of the filters are. 

Each filter has a number of setting that can be changed.

Sometimes the application of one filter followed by another can be effective as well.

Do take some of your own photos and experiment with them.  If you have a good picture save it to Central resources and the best ones will be put onto a canvas
